SLOCA Summer Camps 2024

Open to Sloca + non-Sloca families!

Join us for 6 weeks of fun for preschool–8th grade

week 1: june 17-21

Preschool–Kinder 

Underwater Animal Adventure

9am-1pm (Extended Care 1-3pm)

Our engaging teachers weave the love of literature with art, science, and the outdoors in a small class (1:8 teacher-to-student ratio) environment. Each week, we will explore a different theme through literature, crafts, games, and song. A large portion of each day will be spent enjoying our beautiful outdoor space. We plan to get messy with some good play!

A week full of animal fun—get to know certain underwater animals through books, creative games, and outdoor fun.

1st–6th Grade

Lego + Makerspace Camp

9am-3pm

It’s SAFARI Time! Our first week of Lego/Makerspace camp will be all about animals. We will have in-person animal encounters, expert Guest Speakers, documentary-making, Zoo Exhibit building, and safari car simulation coding. Join us for a WILD time of exploration!
Disclaimer: Expect students to watch some educational and inspirational videos during our time together.

week 2: june 24-28

Splatter Art

9am-1pm (Extended Care 1-3pm)

Our engaging teachers weave the love of literature with art, science, and the outdoors in a small class (1:8 teacher-to-student ratio) environment. Each week, we will explore a different theme through literature, crafts, games, and song. A large portion of each day will be spent enjoying our beautiful outdoor space. We plan to get messy with some good play!

A week of fun splatter art—get ready to get messy, creative, and create some paint magic.

1st–6th Grade

Lego + Makerspace Camp

9am-3pm

We are off to SPACE! The second week of Lego/Makerspace camp will explore the complex issues we face as we explore space (in an age-appropriate way!). This camp will include space rover model building, space kit problem-solving, Guest Speakers, Planetary exploration, and more. We cannot wait to engage the imagination and open up the world of space exploration to our students.

week 3: july 8-12

Marvelous Makers

9am-1pm (Extended Care 1-3pm)

Our engaging teachers weave the love of literature with art, science, and the outdoors in a small class (1:8 teacher-to-student ratio) environment. Each week, we will explore a different theme through literature, crafts, games, and song. A large portion of each day will be spent enjoying our beautiful outdoor space. We plan to get messy with some good play!

A week of crafts that will get the kids’ creativity flowing indoors and outdoors.

1st–6th Grade

Adventure Camp/Fun in the Sun

9am-3pm

Week 1 is full of fun adventures! Here are a few examples of things we will do this week. Students will participate in ranger-led age-appropriate hikes where we will learn about the biodiversity of the Central Coast. Together, we will enjoy a day at Talley Farms and then come back to school and learn how to prepare some yummy healthy food. We will also be instructed in basic Karate (without fighting one another!). While on campus, we will be doing a variety of activities your child is sure to enjoy. At the end of the week, we will have snow cones and messy games on campus!

week 4: july 15-19

Preschool–Kinder 

Outdoor Adventures

9am-1pm (Extended Care 1-3pm)

Our engaging teachers weave the love of literature with art, science, and the outdoors in a small class (1:8 teacher-to-student ratio) environment. Each week, we will explore a different theme through literature, crafts, games, and song. A large portion of each day will be spent enjoying our beautiful outdoor space. We plan to get messy with some good play!

A special outdoor adventures week where kids will explore the fun of camping outdoors along with some indoor activities.

1st–6th Grade

Adventure Camp/Fun in the Sun

9am-3pm

Week 2 continues the fun. Some example activities we will be doing this week are visiting the Sand Spit Dunes, the Lufa Farm, the Turtle Reserve, and more! Again, while on campus, we will be doing a variety of activities your child is sure to enjoy. This week will end with an epic bounce house, outdoor snacks, and games in the sun!

week 5: july 22-26

Preschool–Kinder 

Fairies + Gnomes

9am-1pm (Extended Care 1-3pm)

Our engaging teachers weave the love of literature with art, science, and the outdoors in a small class (1:8 teacher-to-student ratio) environment. Each week, we will explore a different theme through literature, crafts, games, and song. A large portion of each day will be spent enjoying our beautiful outdoor space. We plan to get messy with some good play!

Explore magical gnomes and fairies where kids will rely on their imaginations and magical books, crafts, games, and more—both indoors and outdoors!

1st–8th Grade

Musical Theater Camp

9am-3pm

*Musical Theater Camp is a two week commitment*

Join us for musical theater camp! This 2-week course introduces students to a variety of elements and principles used in the process of theater production and appreciation of theater arts. This course will help students stimulate creativity, enhance empathy, increase teamwork ability, and develop self-confidence as they learn to act, sing and dance in preparing a variety showcase to be performed on the last day of camp!

week 6: july 29-august 2

Preschool–Kinder 

Spectacular Science

9am-1pm (Extended Care 1-3pm)

Our engaging teachers weave the love of literature with art, science, and the outdoors in a small class (1:8 teacher-to-student ratio) environment. Each week, we will explore a different theme through literature, crafts, games, and song. A large portion of each day will be spent enjoying our beautiful outdoor space. We plan to get messy with some good play!

A focus on science fun where kids will explore why things happen and do fun experiments that will get their imaginations wondering.

1st–8th Grade

Musical Theater Camp

9am-3pm

Volleyball

10am-12pm
SLO Naz Church

Our volleyball camp focuses on all the fundamentals you need to take your game to the next level! Get a chance to work with our experienced high school coach, Ali Bateman, on passing, setting, hitting, blocking, and footwork. Coach Bateman graduated from the University of San Diego in 2011 as a four-year starter for the Women’s Volleyball Team. She was named two-time WCC player of the year and a two-time NCAA Division 1 All-American. Don’t miss your chance to improve your skills in a competitive and fun environment!

July 15-19

Basketball

10am-12pm
SLO Naz Church

Our basketball camp focuses on all the fundamentals you need to take your game to the next level! Get a chance to work with our experienced high school coach, Robert Koon on footwork, agility, dribbling, shooting, and more. Coach Koon has been coaching youth and high school basketball for 12 years. Before his two seasons as the varsity coach at SLOCA, he spent time as a high school and club coach in Orange County, as well as a skill development coach in China. Don’t miss your chance to improve your skills in a competitive and fun environment!

July 29-August 2

Flag Football

10am-12pm
SLOCA Campus

Our flag football camp focuses on all the fundamentals you need to take your game to the next level! Get a chance to work with our experienced high school coaches on route running, throwing, receiving, footwork, blocking, and more. Players will develop the correct technique to help them be competitive, whether they are competing in tackle or flag football in the fall.
